Ridge Gourd Care and Planting

Sowing Organic Ridge Gourd Seed

  • To protect the plant, choose a spot to place a creeper net.
  • Choose the right grow pack. Separate the soil. Mix the manure with this soil, and then refill the trap.
  • Two seeds per grow bag in the .
  • Use your palms to gently press the seeds into soil medium. Cover them completely with the surrounding soil.
  • Water the seedbed immediately with a light rain from a watering container.
  • Seeds will germinate within 6-8 days and small sprouts will emerge.
  • The first two leaves will emerge in the second week after germination. These are called cotyledons, or false leaves.
  • The first leaves will be visible above the cotyledons at the end of week 2.
  • Seedlings will start to grow into small plants within the first week.
  • You should only keep one seedling per place after the second week. Use a pair scissors to remove any lagging, frail or thin seedlings.

Growing Ridge Gourd Seed

  • As the Ridge Gourds age, tendrils begin to appear.
  • The tendrils help plants support other plants and to climb over other supports.
  • These plants can be guided by creeper nets.
  • Ridge gourds can be carnivores. To increase plant productivity (CT), fertilize your ridge gourds with a sufficient amount VC or Compost Tea when they bloom.
  • Ridge gourds can be found with both male and female flowers. Ridge gourds are made up of female flowers, which makes them different from male flowers.

Harvesting Ridge Gourd Seed

  • Do not allow ridge gourd fruit to mature for too long.
  • You should only harvest the fruit in its earliest stage. Otherwise, the skin will become thick and the fruit will not be separated due to high fiber content.
  • Let the ripe fruit remain on the vine. It is possible to store seeds after they have been scorched.
  • Harvesting Ridge Gourd Seed can be done between 80 and 90 days after sowing. The third month will see the ridge gourd climber bloom. After three months of sowing seeds, it is possible to begin harvesting the ripe Ridge gourd fruit. The harvesting process will continue for three more months.

Safety Tips for Ridge Gourd

  • Ridge Gourd plants require direct sunlight. Your raised bed should therefore be placed in bright, sunny areas. The Ridge Gourd jar should be kept in direct sunlight.
  • Watering: Water your Ridge Gourd potted plant every day during the summer. Water the soil around the plant. Use a watering can so that the water flows through the plant and not just one flow. You can also use a drip irrigation system to provide irrigation for raised beds.
  • Ridge gourds are a strong climber and require plenty of space to grow. You should therefore build a strong creeper net support to your Ridge gourd plant at a height of 5-6 ft using locally available materials like bamboo, ropes and wires.
  • It is important to amend the soil with organic manure in a 2:1 proportion before you start seeding. Organic manure can be made from decomposed cowdung, farmyard manure and compost.
  • After the Ridge Gourd Seed climber has reached 45 days old, you can either apply one tablespoon of organic Azospirillum Nigen Fixing Biofertilizerr to each plant or add a few vermicompostto the soil around each plant.
  • Take care of your plants: Be alert for signs and symptoms that may indicate an insect/fungal/other infection. If you notice signs of these diseases, it is important to immediately spray the necessary medication. Powdery Mildew is a disease that can be found in young plants.

Common Problems Ridge Gourd plants and solutions

Insects generally attack gourds. Beetles and fruit flies are the most common insect threats. It would be better to focus on prevention than on treatment. Two of the most common diseases are powdery mildew, and downy mildew. For their superior benefits, it is better to use pesticides. Mix equal amounts of chili, ginger, garlic and ginger in a paste. Then, dilute the mixture with water and spray. Secure the cloth around your eyes while spraying.
