How can you tell the difference between Malta or orange?
Both are varieties of Citrus. Malta has the name Citrus sinensis. The skin of the fruit is soft . The succulent Vesicles (pieces )inside of the fruits are packed tightly and which is difficult to separate. They have a small amount of seeds. Below the epicarp( the outer wall of the fruit) mesocarp is a papery structure and does not reticulate.
Maltas are typically consumed fresh or in the form of juice. They can be cut to be used in salads, desserts, or used as garnishes for poultry and meat. Malta peels can also be eaten and can be used as a flavouring or candi for many recipes. The pectin content in this fruit makes it perfect for fruit preserves or make into Marmalade.
